Samuel died in 1870 and Theresa remarried to John Baptiste Braden on September 26, 1872. John had two previous marriages, the first to Margarethe Maerz that produced no children and the 2nd to Julia Pieper that produced 6 children: John Baptiste Braden Jr., Elisabeth, Anna, George Joseph, Adolph and Frances. Maria Theresa and John Baptiste had no children. Page 139 of Branching Out in Texas (page 171 of the pdf) lists the dates and details of these three marriages.
John Samuel McBride and Maria Theresa Schmitt and Johann Baptiste Braden
Maria Theresa Schmitt was the second child of Anna Maria and Johann Schmitt III, born on January 21, 1827. She came with her mother and siblings to Texas and married John Samuel McBride on December 13, 1847, in Calhoun County, Texas. McBride was born in 1825 and came to Texas from Kentucky. They had children:
- Samuel; b. 1850
- Andrew; b. 1855, d. 1933 married Antonia Netta Braden (1863 - 1918) owned a millinery shop in Bernard Prairie (Pilgrimage to the Past, Arliss Treybig); 4 children
- John F.; b. 1859
- William; b. 1862 married Ida Marx
- Henry; b. 1865 married Florence Kelly
- Josephine; b. 1854
- Gregarius; b. 1857
